Empowering Resilient Communities for a Sustainable Future

Climate Health Adaptation focuses on promoting the health of communities facing the immediate impacts of climate change along one of the highest risk area in Vancouver. Our project aims to implement educational outreach programs, advocate for health-focused environmental policies, and mobilize resources for health resilience during extreme weather events.

Climate Adaptation Taskforce

Climate Adaptation Taskforce is 10 member group spearheading our climate adaptation initiatives for the fourth plain community with a particular focus on health-related aspects of climate resilience. The task force will engage in the following key activities:

  1. Health-Focused Education: Identify immediate climate-related health risks and develop educational materials to prepare the community.

  1. Local Policy Advocacy: Advocate for local policy changes by participating in discussions and presenting community-specific data.

  2. Long-Term Advocacy: Build relationships with policymakers and other climate action groups to sustain advocacy efforts.

Severe Weather Crisis Response Team

Severe Weather Crisis Response Team is designed to equipped and provide rapid, coordinated support and resources during climate emergencies. This team will be dedicated to organizing and distributing community resources before and during extreme weather events. This includes pre-positioning supplies, coordinating volunteer networks, and establishing communication channels to ensure timely and effective distribution of resources.


Engaging in local and regional climate resiliency efforts

Fourth Plain Forward is an active member of Clark County’s Environmental Justice Coalition and partner for City of Vancouver Climate Action Framework. Our participation aims to bring the specific health concerns of the Fourth Plain community to these platforms, advocating for policies and actions that mitigate immediate health risks associated with climate change.
