Paid Family and Medical Leave in Washington

Nearly every Washington worker is eligible for up to 12 weeks of Paid Family and Medical Leave starting in the 2020. Employees need to work 820 hours in Washington, or about 16 hours per week, over the course of about a year to be eligible. Employees can apply for leave with the Employment Security Department to get a partial wage replacement, up to 90 percent of  their typical pay, capped at $1,000 per week. Paid Family and Medical Leave can help promote community health because it helps alleviate stress for working families. Find out more about the law here: https://paidleave.wa.gov/
