Fourth Plain Community Commons Grand Opening

Last Saturday unfolded as a new chapter in our journey, a testament to years of dedication and visons. It marked a beginning for the Fourth Plain Community Commons.

On the day of the grand opening, the event space was crowded with families and friends coming together in a show of support and getting to know the new space. Among the attendees were our board members, some gracing the occasion with their early and glamorous presence. Some members stayed until the very end, offering their invaluable assistance.

We saw as anticipation emitted from the dancers who had poured weeks of practice into their performance. Their hurried preparations were met with a proud gaze as the crowd cheered them on.

Volunteers arranged beautiful platters of tasty foods from our local restaurants. It was heartwarming to see guests recognize their favorite dishes from along the corridor, a testament to the strong community bonds we share.

Among the infectious joy radiated from the children. Their faces lit up with excitement as they discovered the bouncy house, relished in ice cream, savored cake, marveled at balloon animals, reveled in face painting, and captivated by the dancing lions. It felt almost as though planning these festivities had been as much fun as the children were having.

Curious adults couldn't resist peeking into the kitchen and office spaces. Their occasional inquiries were met with enthusiastic responses: "Of course! This is OUR space, a collective endeavor we are building together."

These are moments we continue to hold close to our hearts, cherishing them deeply.

We recognized the deep connections people already have with the Community Commons and express gratitude for the diligent work by our team, funders, builders, muralists, and policy makers. They invested considerable time and energy to ensure its inclusivity, warmth, and safety.

Their unwavering commitment resonates perfectly with the Commons' mission, which is “to weave the fabric of unity, strength, and belonging.
