Cultural Creative Connection Panel

On November 29th, we hosted a Cultural Creative Connection Panel featuring Christian Barrios, muralist and owner of La Casita Art Gallery and Cultural Center; Rodolfo Serna, muralist and spiritual leader; and Rue, photographer and director of the nonprofit War Paint.

They generously shared their experiences as BIPOC artists, highlighting not only how they showcase their culture in their work but also how they've created spaces where their community feels welcomed to express themselves and be represented through art.

Quoting Ana Betancourt, "you all ran so we can walk," we thank our trailblazing panel for being an inspiration and encouraging the next generation of artists to pursue their artistic passions with authenticity.

Community talking at the Cultural Creative Connection Panel.

We continue to witness the momentum of diverse and inspiring artists here in Vancouver. Some BIPOC artists in attendance spoke about their passions and interest in poetry, visual art, music, and spoken word. Diversifying our perspectives in the art world promotes an inclusive environment that welcomes and values individuals from all cultural backgrounds, fostering a sense of belonging. We encourage more artists to reach out to their creative communities. Let us know about the big dreams you can imagine, and our community can help bring them to life.
