2019 Fourth Plain Multicultural Festival

Over the last three years, members of Fourth Plain have come together to put on a festival that celebrates the unique identity of Fourth Plain, Vancouver's International District. Each year the event features live music and performances, multi-ethnic cuisine, and family-friendly activities. Each year we see an increase in attendance. Each festival is more unique than the last.

This September, over 2,000 festival goers came out to Evergreen Park to celebrate the third annual Fourth Plain Multicultural Festival. Over fifty vendors shared resources and information with the community. Attendees enjoyed a variety of cuisines from around the world, including Middle Eastern bites from Hummus Hummus food truck, tacos and burritos from Dulce Tentacion and Vida Flare, sweet and savory snacks from Frutas Locas, Brussels style waffles from Hello Waffle Cart, gourmet shaved ice from Kona Shaved Ice, and of course, delicious cotton candy from MDF Foods!

The festival had a stellar line up of dance and music performers including Na Rósaí (traditional Irish music), Bloco Alegria (Brazilian samba), Fort Vancouver Mariachi, Ora Nui Tahitian Dance Troupe, Portland Taiko (Japanese drumming), Vancouver Ballet Folklórico (Mexican folk dance), Chervona (Russian-Gypsy folk punk), and more. In addition, Napoleon the Alpaca made a special appearance. Children enjoyed other activities like face painting, balloon twisting, mural painting, and jenga!

Throughout the event, over twenty raffle prizes were given out to individuals and families. A few lucky children won a free bicycle thanks to Bike Clark County. Others won a free membership to the Marshall or Firstenberg Center and the YMCA. Some lucky winners received passes to Skyzone, gift certificates to Golden China, and more!

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the Fourth Plain community! A special thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, performers, and vendors! You helped make this year’s festival a huge success!
